The Knights Errant Part 2
As mentioned in the previous post, the Knight's Errant that we see today was not what Sir John Everett Millais originally painted. In his original painting the woman was facing the knight, because of this, many believed this expressed the woman's 'loose morals'. In response to this, Millais cut out the torso of the woman and repainted it to have her looking away from the knight, showing modesty.
The original cut out torso of the woman was reused for another of Millais' paintings 'The Martyr of The Solway'
